I am an Artist

Do you know how many times throughout my entire life I have let my limiting thoughts about myself stand in the way of calling myself an artist?

Too many to count.

Why?

Because it’s easier to deny it and dismiss it rather than admit it and face the risk humiliation and failure. Fear is the worst enemy we have.

Why?

Because fear stops us in our tracks. It’s always available for us to draw upon when the path we are on is too long, the task is too hard or someone steps on our soul.

Steven Pressfield wrote an entire book about this very subject called The War of Art. Basically it’s about how we let our fear control us from achieving success.

I do this all the time. In fact, now that I am self employed, I am doing this more than ever before.

But I am learning more and more each day about how I am my own worst enemy, critic and fearful human. As I watch the bank account deplete, I become more fearful and self critical.

So what do I do about it?

Just crawl under a rock and weep?

Go get another meaningless job in the corporate world and forget about it?

No. I take steps forward every single day. Here are some of those steps:

  • I create
  • I learn and study new art techniques
  •  I read and collect information on how other artists made their way to success.
  • I build up my dream of being a professional artist with each stroke of the pencil.
  • I build and collect a portfolio of my art
  • I share my art with the online world (Instagram)
  • I learn to face my fears one step at a time.
  • I continue to hope, dream and create my future

Why? Because my name is Noelle DaVinci and I am an artist.
