What am I painting Today?

Painted Vintage Secretary Desk

I have decided to try to paint furniture with my own style. I think I can sell furniture faster than I can paintings, but we will see.
So first I decided to paint the desk that was solid white to a aqua blue with some flair.

Next decided to paint the left side. I also did a couple of funky things like try to decorate it with some glued pieces and then paint a stencil and paint a heart. Still not sure I like this side at all but I moved on.

Right side desk and inside
The right side and inners of desk

Painting the right side came along better without the need to add flair and extras to it. The inside came out even better: solid magenta. I think I may just leave this alone. Until I gloss coat it.

So What’s next? I am going to paint an octopus on the front of the desk. Yes, you heard me right and octopus. So I began practicing them in my watercolor journal. Here are the two images, I came up with.

octopus watercolor
First try for octopus.

I like the structure of his head and arms but I don’t think he can run all the way down to the bottom of the drawers so I will try again.

Second Watercolor Octopus
Octopus number 2

I like number 2 better. I think he can easily fill the whole desk, perhaps even wrap his arms around the desk to one of the sides (or both). So this is a version of what I will do. it will be interesting how he will come out in acrylic. Check back tomorrow for the final results.
